MEET THE ARTISTS
Ji In Yang
violin



Ji In Yang came to the U.S. in 1995 to study at the Juilliard Pre-College Division. Since then she has received recognition for her outstanding performances in and& around New York. She has had many appearances with orchestras including Bucheon Philhamonic Orchestra, Suwon Philharmonic Orchestra, Chuncheon Philhamonic Orchestra, New Amsterdam Symphony Orchestra, and Sarah Lawrence Symphony Orchestra. She had appeared in national Television show ¡°Art Theatre¡± in Korea as a guest. In 2004, she was invited by Midori to perform in Japan which was televised in NHK. In 2002, she was invited to play J.S. Bach¡¯s Double Concerto with Cho-Liang Lin with and ISSejong at the in Tongyeong International Music Festival. Since beginning her violin studies at the age of six, she has won numerous awards and competitions including first prize at the 1991 Korean Monthly Music Magazine Competition. Having won the Concerto Competition, she performed the Vieuxtemps Violin Concerto No.4 with the Juilliard-Pre College Orchestra. She recently concluded her studies at the Juilliard School as a student of Hyo Kang. Ms. Yang has been a member of Sejong since 2005 and was appointed as a Samsung Foundation of Culture chair member in 2006.

Pianist Young-Ah Tak has performed at The Kennedy Center, Jordan Hall (Boston), the Steans Institute at Ravinia Festival and Music@Menlo festival since making her New York debut at the Lincoln Center with the Juilliard Symphony. Ms. Tak has performed with the Orchestra including the Filharmonia Pomorska (Poland), the Oltenia Philharmonic Orchestra (Romania), the Lansing Symphony Orchestra, the North Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, and the Korean Symphony Orchestra and her many awards include top prizes in the San Antonio, Corpus Christi, Valsesia-Musica (Italy) and Hilton Head International Piano Competitions. The debut recording of Zaimont¡¯s ¡®Wizards (2003)¡¯ by Ms. Tak was released from Albany Records. Ms. Tak received her Bachelor of Music degree from The Juilliard School and her Master's degree with high distinction from the New England Conservatory. She also earned her Graduate Diploma from the New England Conservatory with Russell Sherman and Wha Kyung Byun as a Presidential Scholar. Ms. Tak's previous teachers include Martin Canin and Yong Hi Moon. She has performed in master classes given by Fou Ts'ong, Hans Leygraf, John Perry, Maria Curcio and Marc Durand among others. Ms. Tak is currently pursuing her Doctorate of Musical Arts at Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University as a student of Leon Fleisher. She also serves as a faculty at the Preparatory Division of Peabody Institute.
