Seung Hyun Lee, Korean Lyric-Coloratura soprano is currently a visiting professor at Baylor University (Waco, TX). Miss Lee is the winner of many renounced international opera competition such as Mario Lanza Opera Scholarship Foundation Competition(USA), Concorso Internazionale Mario Del Monaco, and Fracesco Cilea International Opera Competition (Italy). She was warmly received by the audiences and critics at the Gala concerts at Teatro Communale Marsala and Teatro Siracusa. She made her New York debut at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall and also was the guest artist for Asian American Heritage Night at Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. She appeared as soloist with orchestras including New York Sinfonietta, Riverside Sinfonietta (U.S.A), and Pyoung Tak Orchestra at Sokcho international music Festival (Korea). Her Operatic performances include role of Olympia from Tales of Hoffman, Bastienne, from Bastien und Bastienne, Alice from Le Comte Ory, Achsah from Joshua, Nannetta from Falstaff, and Oscar from Un Ballo in Maschera. She is also appeared as soprano soloist in Oratorio, such as Mozart Requiem, Coronation Mass, C minor mass and Schubert C major mass, Bach Saint John Passion, Handel Messiah. Haydn Creation. She holds DMA from University of Cincinnati, MM and BM from Manhattan School of Music.

Since making her New York debut in the Lincoln Center with the Juilliard Symphony, Ms. Tak has performed in the United States, Canada, Austria, Germany, Italy, Korea, and Japan. Her performances have been broadcast on WQXR (New York), WFMT (Chicago), WBJC (Baltimore), WCLV (Cleveland), and the LOOP (Chicago’s cable station). Ms. Tak has performed with numerous orchestras including the Juilliard Symphony, North Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, Filharmonia Pomorska (Poland), the Oltenia Philharmonic Orchestra (Romania), the Lansing Symphony Orchestra, the NEC Philharmonic, the Busan Philharmonic Orchestra and the Korean Symphony Orchestra. She has appeared at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center, The Kennedy Center, Jordan Hall, Ravinia Festival, Music@Menlo, the Myra Hess Concert Series, and in the Tongyeong and Busan International Music Festivals in Korea. Her many awards include top prizes in the San Antonio, Hilton Head, Missouri Southern, Corpus Christi, Valsesia-Musica, Ettlingen and Gyeongnam International Piano Competitions. Ms. Tak received her Bachelor of Music degree from The Juilliard School and her Master’s degree from the New England Conservatory where she also earned her Graduate Diploma as a Presidential Scholar. Currently, Ms. Tak serves as an Assistant Professor of Piano at Southeastern University in Florida as she completes her Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University. She has studied with Leon Fleisher, Martin Canin, Yong Hi Moon, Russell Sherman and Wha Kyung Byun. The debut recording of Zaimont’s ‘Wizards (2003)’ by Ms. Tak was released from Albany Records.
