Soon-Hee Lee, soprano
Soprano Soon-Hee Lee has been praised by New York critics for her "unaffected yet carefully polished vocalism" and for her " gift of a dazzling top." Ms. Lee's voice is particularly well suited for German lieder and French songs. With uncompromising precision, her voice is remarkable for its tonal richness and bel canto lyricism. Regardless of splendid opportunities in opera, Ms. Lee has chosen to devote herself to lieder and oratorios. A superb musician, Soon-Hee Lee continues to bring her enormous talent, rare interpretative insight and international experience to this art form and to the concert stage. In addition to orchestral engagements, Soon-Hee Lee gives annual recitals in New York and in other major cities throughout the United States. She has participated in several international art song festival Soon-Hee Lee has won many competitions including the McDowell Music Club Award and the Ralph Corvett Foundation Award. Soon-Hee Lee completed her undergraduate studies as a scholarship student at the University of Oklahoma. She graduated from The Juilliard School where, also as a scholarship student, she studied with Jennie Tourel. She also participated in summer seminars in Europe with Gerard Souzay and Dalton Baldwin. Ms. Lee was invited, 1990-1997, to master classes with Daniel Ferro at the Yong Pyeong Festival in Korea. Ms. Lee is also president of the Korea Music Foundation, has assisted many superb young musicians with thier New York debut recitals on carious concert stages. Her CDs include Melodies from Korea, with pianist Dai-Uk Lee, and L'amour de Moy, with Dalton Baldwin, currently available on the Musika Records label. |
Dalton Baldwin,piano
Mr. Baldwin is on the faculty at the Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey, where he has also served for many years as artistic director for their Art Song Festivals. He is in Constant demand for master classes in the United States, Europe and Asia. Mr. Baldwin was born in Summit, New Jersey and studied at The Juillard School and the Oberlin Conservatory. He continued his studies in Europe with Nadia Boulanger and Madeleine Lipatti. He received the honorary doctorate of music from Oberlin College and was awarded Chevalier de L'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres from the French government. |
